We’re excited to announce that we’ve signed a publishing deal with Willie Triplett, Gordon Strozier, Gregory Potts and Gerald Valentine, founding members of 1980’s R&B/Funk band Ready For The World.
Hailing from Flint, Michigan, the 6-piece band broke out of the gate in 1985 with a self-titled Platinum debut album featuring hit singles “Oh Sheila”, “Deep Inside Your Love”, “Digital Display” and “Ceramic Girl”. Their Gold-selling follow-up, Long Time Coming, powered by “Love You Down” and “Mary Goes Round”, firmly established them as one of the era’s most influential voices in soul/funk alongside such contemporaries as Prince, The Time, The Gap Band and Cameo. The band’s unique sound has found its way to millions of new fans via samples by everyone from Usher, Silkk The Shocker and Twista to Girl Talk and Major Lazer. The band’s Willie Tripplett said, “I feel like we’ve come full circle. The man who discovered us was a DJ named ‘The Electrifying Mojo’. We’re now entrusting our works to Mojo Music, a company with a proven track record and passion for the art of music. We look forward to a long and prosperous creative relationship.” Said Mojo’s Co-Founder and CEO Mark Fried, “As fans since they first blew our minds in the mid-80’s, we couldn’t be more excited to rev up the Mojo covers, samples and sync machine and help get Ready For The World songs playing everywhere all the time again.”
