As Mojo’s SVP of Business Development based in Los Angeles, Nobu is responsible for working with film, television and new media companies, seeking opportunities for Mojo writers to contribute songs and score and pitching brand and legacy projects based on our client’s music and life stories. Thanks to decades of relationships with music and media companies in Tokyo, he is also focused on strengthening the company’s footprint and driving creative activity in Japan and throughout Asia. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Nobu began his professional career in 1989 promoting international music in his home country of Japan. He returned to America in the mid-90s, coming to New York to produce and promote music for Japanese labels, following by a move to Los Angeles to take on senior business development roles with leading anime producer Bandai Entertainment, with whom he launched Cowboy Bebop and Gundam Wing in the US on Cartoon Network, and digital electronics specialist Pioneer Entertainment, with whom he re-established the Metropolitan Opera concert film series. Nobu joined HoriPro in 2006, opening the company’s Los Angeles office. Among his initiatives were the hiring of West Coast sync staff, production of a series of catalog promotional tools and liaising with major clients and their teams in creating tribute records and other branded entertainment.
